Dark electronic soundtrack artist Dwight Joseph Taylor (NeoElph) explores traditional folk tropes and works in his latest e.p."Folk for the New Aeon" pre-order available today on bandcamp, and coming to all major streaming services soon. A true child of the 80s, NeoElph developed an unhealthy fascination for synthesizers in primary school where he learned to play saxophone, guitar, & snare drum. College deepened his love for analog instruments where he continued his studies in cello, bassoon, oboe, etc. but has always found synths to be the portals to the kinds of sonic worlds he wanted to inhabit. While his roots were a mix of tradition (loving and singing older songs with family and friends), 80's synthesizer and video game music were also key components as he remembers fondly playing King's Quest (probably too much), where the main background loop was the traditional folk song "Greensleeves," hence its inclusion on the e.p.

The broadside ballads included on this E.P. contain melodies that have haunted and informed his process throughout his fledgeling career, so in true cinematic fashion, NeoElph has carefully deconstructed and electronically reconstituted 5 of his favourite traditional ballads originally from England and Scotland, along with nods to their American variants; featuring The Unquiet Grave", "Nottamun Town", "Ladye Greensleeves", "Black is the Colour", & "Conversations with Death"

NeoElph Asheville, North Carolina

NeoElph presents a sonic journey into the sublime places of the human psyche where the constant play of light and shadow invoke a magical, primordial and at times, a prophetical arabesque. The base elements of nature are electrified; the intonations channeled from Spirit are made audible. He composes each track not as a song, but as an adventure.
